Traditional Straw Work Experience

The traditional crafts of straw working and rush work are both sustainable and low impact. Straw working is currently listed as critically endangered and on the Heritage Crafts ‘Red List of Endangered Crafts’.  Keep these traditional skills alive by learning some basic straw and rush working techniques. Take home some beautiful hand-crafted harvest knots, corn dollies and St. Brigid’s crosses, made with local materials, while discovering the fascinating history and folklore behind all these in the Mourne area.
